A New Home For BPS Student Athletes
BOSTON (September 10, 2026) - Boston will soon be home to the best youth sports venue in the country, a free and accessible district-wide resource that will serve thousands of Boston Public Schools students. Through the long-anticipated revitalization of White Stadium, students and community members will have access to a world-class venue and professional-level athletic facilities for decades to come.
The transformed White Stadium will provide students from every Boston public high school with 345-day-per-year access to professional-caliber facilities for practices, games, meets, tournaments, performances, and events. These facilities will include:
Regulation natural grass field
MIAA-standard eight-lane track, allowing BPS students compete at the highest levels
Modern locker rooms
Strength and conditioning facilities
Sports medicine spaces
Classrooms and community gathering spaces
More than 90% of programmable hours will be reserved for use by BPS and the community, with annual student programming nearly tripling to over 700 hours per year.
Public access will similarly increase to 105 hours per week, also tripling opportunities for residents, families, and community organizations interested in utilizing the facility for community gatherings and celebrations, physical fitness, and more.
Boston Legacy FC has committed more than $252 million in privately funded community investments over the next 15 years, representing the largest public and community benefits package and largest-ever private investment associated with a public facility project in Boston's history. This funding will provide year-round maintenance, support long-term operations, and ensure the stadium remains a world-class community resource, as well as annual support for Boston Public Schools student-athletes.
Beyond athletics, Boston Legacy FC is investing in education, leadership, workforce development, internships, mentoring, and student experiences that extend far beyond the playing field. As part of the team’s commitment, a $500,000 annual community fund (totaling $5 million over ten years) will be specifically earmarked to invest in youth sports, health and wellness initiatives, local businesses, and Franklin Park investments.
