Boston Legacy FC Acquires Attacking Midfielder Sarah Schupansky in Trade with Gotham FC
Boston (August 21, 2026) - Boston Legacy Football Club has agreed to a trade with Gotham FC for attacking midfielder and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native Sarah Schupansky. The Legacy will receive Schupansky while Gotham will receive $50,000 in allocation money and $30,000 in intraleague transfer fee funds.
Schupansky has made 38 appearances for Gotham FC since beginning her professional career with the club in 2025. In her rookie season, Schupansky had 23 league appearances, starting 16 matches and recording 1 goal and 5 assists – and won an NWSL Championship. Her five assists were tied for second in the league.
Schupansky also played and started in both of Gotham’s playoff matches in 2025. In the quarterfinals, she played the full 90 minutes as eighth-seeded Gotham defeated NWSL Shield winners Kansas City Current, 2–1, to advance to the semifinals. She again played the full match in the NWSL Championship against the Washington Spirit, helping Gotham secure its second league title.
“I’m beyond grateful and excited to be joining Boston Legacy. Thank you to the entire organization for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to be part of such an incredible club,” said Sarah Schupansky. “I’m honored for the chance to contribute to this team and help them build the legacy that this city deserves. I can’t wait for what’s to come!”
A Pittsburgh native, she played youth soccer for the Riverhounds Development Academy, and North Allegheny High School, where she was named all-state twice and was a United Soccer Coaches high school All-American in 2020. She committed to Pittsburgh University as a high school freshman.
“Sarah is a chance creator, who adds real quality to our attack,” said Domè Guasch, General Manager of Boston Legacy FC. “At 22 years old, she has already proven herself at the highest level with Gotham, and we believe that her best years are still ahead of her. We’re glad to have her in Boston.”
The Legacy will play the North Carolina Courage on Saturday, August 22 at 7:30 PM ET (NWSL+). The next Legacy home match is on Monday, August 31 at 8:00 PM ET (CBS) vs Angel City FC.
