Boston Legacy Football Club Acquires Forward Gift Monday in Trade with Washington Spirit
Boston (October 8, 2026) - Boston Legacy FC has agreed to a trade with the Washington Spirit for forward Gift Monday. The Legacy will receive Monday while the Spirit will receive $500,000 in transfer threshold funds.
Monday joins Boston Legacy FC from the Washington Spirit, where she has appeared in 48 regular season matches since joining the club in 2025, recording 12 goals and three assists.
Monday made NWSL history in September 2025, scoring the fastest hat trick from kickoff in league history. She found the net three times in 35 minutes and 52 seconds against the Houston Dash.
A native of Akwa Ibom, Nigeria, the 24-year-old forward brings extensive professional and international experience to Boston. Before joining the Spirit, Monday spent two and a half seasons with Spanish side UD Tenerife, making more than 65 appearances and recording 26 goal contributions across nearly 4,500 minutes.
Prior to her time in Spain, Monday played for Nigerian clubs FC Robo and COD United Amazons. At the international level, she made her senior debut for the Nigeria Women’s National Team in 2019 and was named to Nigeria’s 23-player roster for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Monday was recently called up to represent Nigeria in the team’s upcoming Olympic qualifying matches against Comoros on October 9 and October 1, 2026.
“I’m very happy and honored to be here today as I officially join this wonderful club,” said Gift Monday.
“Gift brings a unique set of qualities as a forward that will add another dimension to our attack. She will contribute to our high press, create opportunities and be dangerous in the final third. She’s also a team player, and that matters to us as much as her quality on the pitch,” said Domè Guasch, General Manager of Boston Legacy FC.
