Boston Legacy FC Appoints Edward Gallagher as Club’s First-Ever Technical Director
Boston (October 7, 2026) - Boston Legacy FC today announced the appointment of Edward Gallagher as the Club's first-ever Technical Director, a newly created role designed to strengthen the club’s long-term sporting vision, player development pathways and global recruitment strategy.
Reporting directly to General Manager Domè Guasch, Gallagher will oversee the technical direction of the Sporting Department. He will bring recruitment, coaching, performance, medical, analytics and player pathway functions together under one aligned football strategy, and he will be responsible for turning Boston Legacy’s sporting vision into day-to-day execution across the department.
Gallagher will also lead the development of the Club's long-term player pathway strategy, connecting youth soccer, player pathway and future development programs with the first team as one integrated football system.
Gallagher steps into the role after serving as Boston Legacy FC's Director of Recruitment, where he was instrumental in building the Club's inaugural roster. Boston Legacy FC was one of the first NWSL expansion teams to build a roster without a draft. In that role, Gallagher developed a strategic recruitment plan aligned with the Club's playing philosophy and long-term goals, building a talent pipeline through scouting networks and data-driven evaluation.
"Edward has been a key part of building this Club from the start, including our first roster and the culture behind it,” said Domè Guasch, General Manager of Boston Legacy FC. "As Technical Director, Edward will help us take the Club to the next level, always keeping our players at the core. Our vision is ambitious: to make this the best place in the game to develop and perform. Edward shares that vision, and I’m confident he’s the right person to lead us there."
“I’ve been fortunate to be part of this Club from the beginning, so I’m incredibly excited to continue that journey here in Boston. It’s a great city with great people, and I’m looking forward to doing everything I can to help the Club continue to grow,” said Edward Gallagher, Technical Director of Boston Legacy FC. “I see this role as a real opportunity to help build something for the long term. The chance to work across different areas of the Sporting Department is something I’m really excited about, particularly because we already have some excellent people in place. I’m looking forward to supporting them, helping connect the different areas of the Club and playing my part in what is a very ambitious future for Boston Legacy."
Before joining Boston Legacy FC, Gallagher spent two years as Player Recruitment Manager with the Women's Super League club Brighton & Hove Albion, where he led an international scouting department that identified and assessed talent for the club's women's and girls' pathway. His tenure brought a wave of signings to Brighton, including Fran Kirby, Nikita Parris, Maria Thorisdóttir, Kiko Seike, Jorelyn Carabalí and captain Vicky Losada.
In addition, Gallagher previously served two years as Sporting Director of London City Lionesses, and earlier in his career he held various coaching roles in Scotland and Finland. He also brings extensive experience in youth and American collegiate soccer. Across those roles, he has built a deep understanding of the global player market and strong relationships with agents, along with an approach that balances analytics, scouting and a sharp read of the modern game.
Gallagher is a native of Glasgow, Scotland. He holds a master's degree in sports management from the University of Central Arkansas, a Director of Coaching Diploma from United Soccer Coaches and a UEFA A License.
