Boston Legacy FC Signs Midfielder Aleigh Gambone

Boston (August 11, 2025) -  Boston Legacy FC has signed American midfielder Aleigh Gambone (pronounced AL-lee GAHM-bohn) through the end of 2027. Gambone will join FC Nürnberg Frauen on loan until the end of the year. The team plays in the Bundesliga, one of Europe’s top leagues. She will join Boston Legacy FC in January ahead of the 2026 NWSL preseason.

Gambone, who hails from Clifton, Virginia, played four years for the University of North Carolina Tar Heels, where she helped UNC win the ACC tournament as a freshman in 2019. She went pro afterwards, signing with Danish Women’s League club Fortuna Hjørring on a short-term contract at the end of 2022. She then joined Scottish Women’s Premier League side Glasgow City F.C. on a two-year deal in July 2023, where she gained experience in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Gambone secured a starting position at Glasgow, becoming one of the standout players in the SWPL during her time in Scotland, scoring nine goals across two seasons.

Finishing the year in the Bundesliga will further prepare her for the 2026 NWSL season.”
